Why ARDMS Registered Sonographers?
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) are medical professionals that have gone to two or more years of intense education, clinical experience and registration exams to prove their proficiency in ultrasound. A sonographer's role in diagnostics includes proper use and optimization of ultrasound equipment to acquire the needed images and videos for diagnostic data. Sonographers are then responsible for writing up preliminary information and communicating findings and thoughts to the dictating physician. Sonographers have trained eyes in ultrasound, and can easily pick up on pathology that would often be missed. They know how to optimize their machines through their extensive knowledge of ultrasound physics. Because ultrasound is not a cut and dry imaging modality, sonographers have a strict responsibility in the decisions and methodologies that go into their imaging. Sonographers have dedicated their careers and education to ultrasound.
FUR Sonographer Credentials
Our RDMS sonographers are all required to be credentialed and maintain their credentials in ultrasound physics and abdomen. However, many also hold additional specializations in musculoskeletal, vascular technology, obstetrics and gynecology, breast, echocardiography, and/or pediatric ultrasound.
FUR Sonographer Experience and Requirements
All FUR sonographers have met a minimum requirement of one year in clinical experience, although many have spent 5+ years in human medicine at recognized, speciality, high-volume hospitals and imaging centers. Our sonographers have collectively published many peer-reviewed articles and educational material, served on ARDMS board writing committees, and have been ultrasound educators throughout the world. FUR requires a formal cross-training program for our sonographers to perform exams in veterinary medicine and they must have prior animal experience and animal first-aid and CPR certifications.
FUR Continuing Education
The credentialing agency, American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) requires continuing education in order to maintain their credentials throughout their career.
About Us
We believe that all animal-human bonds are founded on love, and the most important thing we can do for our animals is provide them with that love coupled with adequate healthcare.
Our goal is to improve the lives of pets with quality and affordable ultrasound imaging and education for veterinary professionals.
Ultrasound is our passion, our career, our hobby and our fun. We use our ultrasound education, skills, and knowledge to ensure comfort, dependability, and trust in our services, whether you are a veterinarian or a pet owner.
Ultrasound is a skill-set, built from good education and hands-on learning and experience. Our sonographers go through years of schooling and clinical experience, and are experts at ultrasound.
We work with veterinarians and radiologists alike to provide our professional ultrasound services to provide the best possible and affordable care for our community's pets, their family members.
