Why ARDMS Registered Sonographers?
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RDMS) are medical professionals who have completed two or more years of intense education, clinical experience and registration exams to prove their proficiency in ultrasound. A sonographer's role in diagnostics includes proper use and optimization of ultrasound equipment to acquire the needed images and videos for diagnostic data. Sonographers are then responsible for writing up preliminary information and communicating findings and thoughts to the dictating physician. Sonographers have trained eyes in ultrasound, and can easily identify pathology that would often be missed. They know how to optimize their machines through their extensive knowledge of ultrasound physics. Because ultrasound is not a cut and dry imaging modality, sonographers have a strict responsibility in the decisions and methodologies that go into their imaging. Sonographers have dedicated their careers and education to ultrasound.
FUR Sonographer Credentials
Our RDMS sonographers are all required to be credentialed and maintain their credentials in ultrasound physics and abdomen. However, many also hold additional specializations in musculoskeletal, vascular technology, obstetrics and gynecology, breast, echocardiography, and/or pediatric ultrasound.
FUR Sonographer Experience and Requirements
All FUR sonographers have met a minimum requirement of one year in clinical experience, although many have spent 5+ years in human medicine at recognized, speciality, high-volume hospitals and imaging centers. Our sonographers have collectively published many peer-reviewed articles and educational material, served on ARDMS board writing committees, and have been ultrasound educators through-out the world. Due to their high intellect of ultrasound, our sonographers are all easily cross-trained in veterinary imaging and anatomy, have prior animal experience, and are required to have animal first-aid and CPR certifications.
FUR Continuing Education
The credentialing agency, American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) requires continuing education in order to maintain their credentials throughout their career.
FUR Veterinary Sonography Experts
You can be assured that all FUR sonographers will provide the same thorough and advanced studies to your patients that they were trusted to do when they were in human medicine.
